In 2016 New Dimensionz was selected to manage two of the five most important IT related projects for an ASX top 50 company.
One of the projects covers all aspects of developing an advanced planning, scheduling, and day of operations capability for a “below rail” business unit. This very substantial initiative will have a profound impact on the entire supply chain.
The other project was for an “above rail” business unit which needed to automate one of it’s inland intermodal rail terminals. And the project needed to be completed in a record time-frame.
The key vendor involved in the project believed the intermodal project could not be done in less than twelve months. New Dimensionz delivered it in four months.
And the scope included automating the terminal gate, yard, and rail management. Reach stacker instructions were also automated. Other aspects included billing, optimization of rail stowage, yard management, and some CHE traffic path planning. There were a number of interfaces also required to be developed between the terminal operating system and legacy systems including inbound rail consists, container movements and bookings. Over all of that, change and training were facilitated and managed – absolutely key aspects in any successful project. In four months!
